AMPD Studios, launched by Old Mutual in May 2019, will become a community asset following the conclusion of a three-year support agreement by the company in June 2022. Old Mutual’s sponsorship strategy is based on championing mutually positive futures for communities and customers every day.

“The vision for AMPD Studio was always to create a vibrant launchpad for the music stars of tomorrow and a venue for cultivating financial education amongst creatives. This has been successfully achieved and we are excited to hand this asset back to the community for the benefit of future musicians,” says Thobile Tshabalala, Head of Brand at Old Mutual.

Old Mutual is handing the initiative back to the community which allows AMPD Studios to move into a new phase. It will become a venue that the management will guide into a profitable, revenue-earning enterprise. It is expected that the studio’s role as a leader to the business and financial side of the music industry will continue.

“AMPD Studios has grown into an industry leader in the empowerment space thanks to this powerful partnership that has enabled its birth. And now we are excited to take it forward into the future and continue the great work,” says Jon Savage, Director of In broadcasting.

“While making music, the new generation of stars were able to absorb another important skill – how to handle their finances and navigate their way through the contracts and the other business aspects of a competitive business that, until AMPD, were often ignored. We are proud to have been able to initiate an enterprise that became a centre for life-changing engagement opportunities and gave talented newcomers the chance to meet and learn from established music stars”, says Thobile Tshabalala, Head of Brand at Old Mutual.”

AMPD studios’ new chapter was celebrated with an event where music legends, up-and-coming artists and members of the artistic community who have made AMPD Studios their home over the last three years,      shared their experiences and successes.

“In the future, the musicians who were part of making AMPD Studios the place for musicians to be creative will still be able to use the facility. Old Mutual helped set the stage for making this platform a successful business. We will watch its progress with interest,” concludes Tshabalala.
