In December 2022, the dynamic creative duo, Re.decay, took the music scene by storm with their exclusive songwriting and production camp held in the vibrant city of Johannesburg, South Africa. This extraordinary event, supported by industry giants such as Jazzworx Studios, Native Instruments, Ableton, Dolby Atmos, and Initiative Musik, brought together a select group of 12 talented artists and producers for an intensive week of music immersion.

Dubbed “Where Music Takes Us: A Documentary,” this one-of-a-kind experience resulted in the creation of seven captivating EPs scheduled for release this year on Re.decay’s esteemed label, RDK Records. Throughout the week, the artists and facilitators harnessed an unstoppable wave of creative energy, exploring genres ranging from R&B to Hip-Hop to Amapiano, and everything in between.

What made this camp truly remarkable was the harmonious synergy between the 12 artists from Johannesburg and the team of professionals from Europe. Together, they worked, learned, and shared effortlessly, driven by the common goals of uplifting each other and producing exceptional music. The resulting collaboration showcased the brilliance of rappers VenusRaps, Jimmy Trane, MaTa, and OVERDO$E, the soul-stirring vocals of Shannon, Umbuso, Kaluwe, and Monelle, and the daring production talents of AirDee, Phonikz, Hāzy, and IORDN. The sum of their combined efforts proved to be even greater than its individual parts.

Beyond the creative process, Re.decay also organized three insightful workshops for the participants, focused on crucial aspects of the music industry, including contracts and payment structures. Recognizing the power of knowledge gained from their own experiences, Re.decay aimed to level the playing field by sharing practical and hands-on insights with the aspiring artists. As they believe, knowledge is indeed power.

RDK Records wasted no time in showcasing the camp’s extraordinary talent. EPs by VenusRaps and Monelle have already been released, with scheduled releases in the pipeline for Jimmy Trane, OVERDO$E, Shannon, Umbuso, Kaluwe, and Hāzy. Additionally, fans can anticipate thrilling singles from AirDee and MaTa, ensuring that the music birthed from Re.decay’s Johannesburg music camp will continue to captivate and inspire audiences worldwide.
