This 50-week journey, featuring 50 mesmerizing performances by ByLwansta, became a cultural phenomenon, uniting diverse musical genres and nurturing a vibrant space for connection. NORMVL’s brainchild, “Your Weekly Touch Up,” weaved a narrative around a retired musician turned barber, transforming a simple barbershop into a dynamic stage for musical storytelling and unexpected encounters. This unique concept echoed through the event’s branding and an artist announcement video, creating an environment where music and resilience intertwine.

With a lineup that bridged established and emerging artists in the alternative music scene, the stage welcomed talents like Moonga K, Kazi Ya Sanaa, Emamkay, Wandile Mbameni, and many others. Featuring a curated roster of 59 guest artists, the residency highlighted a commitment to nurturing diverse voices and enriching Rosebank’s musical landscape. More than just an event, “Your Weekly Touch Up” became a platform celebrating music’s transformative impact and the relationships it fosters. ByLwansta, the rapper and producer from Kokstad, co-hosted alongside Soweto-born DJ and producer Al da 3rd, elevating the event’s charm with each performance. Looking back, ByLwansta reflected, saying, “Someone’s gotta do it.”
