I was looking at some of ScHoolboy Q’s “Blue Lips” merch on socials, and his entire website caught my attention! This website is a simple, uncomplicated, and powerful platform. Here’s why I believe it should serve as a blueprint for artists. Let’s get into it!

☑️ The website feels like an extension of the album, which is great. It extends the fan experience of the album.
☑️ Branding is on theme and on point. Everything looks streamlined and reflective of ScHoolboy Q.
☑️ The countdown element builds FOMO and promotes simultaneous streaming (a great way to run those numbers up for that competitive Friday release day).
☑️ There’s a pre-save link to open and listen to the album on your preferred streaming app.
☑️ Sign-up link to get album updates directly to you via phone or email – also a great way for artists to build a stronger community with fans.
☑️ Having links to all social media platforms is always a great idea.
☑️ There’s a merch store link… Before I get into it…

I really really love how everything is on one page and simple to navigate – Simplicity is almost always the best choice, especially when trying to push your music. Artists are fighting for their lives to get the attention of the masses, and a setup like this is one way they can stay afloat in the new music pool. Now back to the merch store.

☑️ He said, “Just scroll down like you’re used to doing on Instagram” – tapping into a working behaviour is a clever way to ensure that whoever will be on that probably comes back because of that familiar feeling behaviour 🫶🏾.
☑️ Again, the theme of the album flows into the merch. Consistency!
☑️ The pre-order option is great for guaranteed sales – he won’t run into the issues of mass production and end up losing money due to not making enough sales.
☑️ Loving these bundled fan packs 💓.
☑️ There are different physical copies of the album, and I’m here for it 🔥. That blue vinyl is IT.
☑️ He has also added other merch and unique items in the merch store, and I think he’s doing this to gauge interest in the items – clever to test what people like and don’t like. He should have added a wishlist button on these items so he can see which items are in demand or not, but maybe the sign-up link will give them some sort of insight.

Anyway… Blue Lips is dropping on Friday, 1 March! Can’t wait!

🤟🏾
