Trailblazing South African musician Moonchild Sanelly, born Sanelisiwe Twisha, has always done things her own way, blending creativity, self-expression, and confidence with personal trauma and conviction. Growing up in Port Elizabeth, she immersed herself in artistic pursuits, later developing her unique ‘future-ghetto-funk’ sound in Durban and Johannesburg. Known for her electrifying shows and bold outfits, her message of female empowerment resonated globally, leading to major festival performances and collaborations with stars like Wizkid, Beyonce, and Gorillaz. After her debut album Rabulpha! in 2015, she signed with Transgressive Records, releasing the genre-crossing album Phases in 2022. Now, she’s back with “Scrambled Eggs,” the first single from her upcoming album. Moonchild Sanelly will be on tour this summer, UK festival dates include Glastonbury, WOMAD, Green Man and Jazz Café Festival.
