In the upcoming #LAMag issue, we dive deep into the musical world of our June cover star, Chayuta. As the Afrobeats Melodic Princess, Chayuta has mesmerized audiences with her unique blend of Afrobeats, soulful melodies and some Amapiano on her latest single Getaway. To get a glimpse into the influences that have shaped her remarkable career, we asked Chayuta about her top five favourite albums of all time and the reasons behind her choices. From timeless classics to contemporary masterpieces, each album offers a window into the heart and soul of this rising star, revealing the eclectic tastes and profound inspirations that fuel her artistry.

Rihanna’s “Anti” Album

“I feel like this was a really personal album and really shows how versatile she is as an artist. The songs on the album shift from pop, trap and even a little bit of a reggae feel and I can literally never get bored listening to it.”
Ed Sheeran’s “=” Album

“I’ve always been obsessed with Ed Sheeran mainly because of his writing and every album he releases gets better and better. But this particular one has my heart because it shows how he evolves as a writer and I feel like it was the main album where he branches into writing how he feels and what he has been through and how he handled certain situations in his life.”
Burna Boy’s “I told them…” Album

“This album has one word for me “solid”! From the features to the mix of different genres, Whenever I listen to this album it keeps me on my toes and I am dancing nonstop. I also love the fact that he continues to upgrade his features every time and manages to maintain his Burna Boy flow no matter who’s on the track with him.”
Raye’s “My 21st Century Blues” Album

“This album took music to a different level for me because it’s such a relatable album and I feel like that’s what music is supposed to be about; to create songs that everyone can interpret in their own way. I still listen to it over and over again because the storyline was created from her through personal experiences in the industry. As a fellow artiste, it is satisfying to see that when she started working on the type of music she was passionate about for her music career blew up.”
Shenseea’s “Never Gets Late Here” Album

“I was already a “shenyeng” but this album made me fall in love with Shenseea’s music all over again because it showed different sides of her; the fun side, the playful side, the mysterious side and I love an album that has different topics so far apart. Also, the fact that she took a break from music to work on her craft and came back putting this masterpiece out shows that there’s no harm in taking your time to put solid projects together.”
