After a protracted legal battle with retail giants NEXT that prompted a name change from LipsyBaby, Southeast London Afrobeats sensation Gift OFA is making a grand return with his latest EP, Ebun-Oluwa. The project marks a significant moment in his career as he reclaims his place in the global music landscape. The new EP follows the success of two teaser singles released last year, ‘Waterproof’ and ‘Deny’, which quickly garnered over 100,000 plays online and earned him the 2023 UK Afrobeats Artist of the Year accolade at the RBE Awards. The release of Ebun-Oluwa comes as a refreshing new chapter for the British Nigerian artist, reflecting his artistic growth and personal evolution.

Gift OFA, formerly known as LipsyBaby, first captured attention in 2021 with his debut EP Story To Glory. The change to his birth name, Gift OFA, and the adoption of the ‘Gift of Africa’ moniker—bestowed by friends and family—symbolizes a return to his roots and a new artistic direction. His latest EP, Ebun-Oluwa, meaning ‘God’s Gift’ in English, is a deeply personal project that celebrates his journey and the artist he has become.

The EP opens with the title track, ‘Ebun-Oluwa’, where Gift OFA reflects on his childhood and pays homage to his hometown of Edo State in Nigeria. This track captures the essence of a young boy’s aspirations and the drive to succeed. The second track, ‘Majo’, stands out for its creativity and celebrates divine feminine energy and beauty. The EP concludes with ‘SOS’, a vibrant and playful track showcasing Gift OFA’s multifaceted personality.
