The highly anticipated 19th annual BET Hip Hop Awards are back, and South African artists Maglera Doe Boy and Blxckie have secured their spots among the nominees for 2024. Joining them are Nigerian stars Burna Boy and ODUMODUBLVCK, representing Africa in the prestigious ‘Best International Flow’ category. The awards, celebrating the best in hip-hop across 17 categories, will be filmed in an exciting new location—Las Vegas, Nevada—on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, with a broadcast set for October 16 on BET DStv Channel 129 at 03:00 CAT.

Burna Boy, a dominant force in global music, has also earned a nomination for ‘Best Live Performance,’ continuing his international acclaim. The inclusion of these African stars further solidifies the growing global influence of African hip-hop, with Maglera Doe Boy, Blxckie, ODUMODUBLVCK, and Burna Boy leading the charge.

Fat Joe, the Grammy® Award-nominated artist and media personality, will return as host for the third consecutive year. “Joe Crack is back for the 3-peat, night night baby,” said Fat Joe, expressing his excitement for this year’s awards. “It’s been a dream to host the ‘BET Hip Hop Awards’ the past few years and I’m looking forward to taking things to the next level in Las Vegas.”

The 2024 BET Hip Hop Awards will showcase top talent from across the globe, with Megan Thee Stallion leading the nominations with twelve nods. Her recognition spans categories including ‘Song of the Year,’ ‘Lyricist of the Year,’ ‘Hip Hop Artist of the Year,’ and ‘Best Hip Hop Video.’ Following closely behind is Kendrick Lamar with eleven nominations, and Drake with eight.

In addition to the major U.S. stars, African hip-hop is taking center stage in this year’s awards.
