In a groundbreaking development, Apple Music has officially launched a global Amapiano category page, further solidifying the genre’s influence worldwide. Amapiano, a genre that has steadily risen from South African townships to international stages, now has its own dedicated space on the streaming platform, showcasing the best of Mzansi’s hottest talents.

The Amapiano category page features an extensive range of artists such as Kabza De Small, Uncle Waffles, Kelvin Momo, Aymos, Nkosazana Daughter, and TxC, among others. Apple Music will also highlight the latest albums, singles, curated playlists, and Artist Essentials, as well as showcase Isgubhu cover stars. To further celebrate the genre, three dedicated Amapiano charts—Top Songs, Top Albums, and Top Videos—have been introduced, featuring only the biggest hits from the genre’s leading artists.
As the genre evolves, so do its sub-genres, which Apple Music has thoughtfully catered to with an expanded selection of playlists. These include New in Amapiano (featuring the latest hits), Private School Piano (a soulful take on the genre), Chill Yanos (highlighting its tranquil elements), Tsa Ko Pitori (exploring Amapiano’s roots), and Lamba-Piano (showcasing West Africa’s fusion of the genre). These playlists reflect the genre’s dynamism and its growing appeal across regions.
Moreover, the platform now offers a rich collection of Amapiano DJ mixes from top names like TxC, Uncle Waffles, DJ Zinhle, and Tyler ICU, along with exclusive Spatial Audio DJ mixes from Kabza De Small, Felo Le Tee, Myztro, De Mthuda, and DBN Gogo, recorded at iconic events like Spring Fiesta and Porryland.
Amapiano artists have expressed their excitement over this launch.

Uncle Waffles commented, “This finally gives us our own space to exist as a dance genre that’s new and the first of its kind. Where what we’re hearing and witnessing is the history that’s going to be remembered when we finally reach bigger heights.”
DJ Stokie echoed the sentiment: “This is excellent news for African music and the genre. It’s great to see Apple Music believing and supporting the genre. Additionally, it will assist many young, up-and-coming Kasi artists in gaining recognition.”
Nkosazana Daughter praised the initiative, saying, “This is going to mean so much for our culture and how the world consumes it. Thank you, Apple Music.”
With this global spotlight, Amapiano is set to continue its journey, captivating audiences worldwide and paving the way for emerging artists. Tyler ICU emphasized, “We are unlocking Amapiano with the launch of the Apple Music category page, taking it to a broader audience on a global scale.”
The introduction of this category is not only a celebration of the genre but also a testament to its growing cultural significance. As Felo Le Tee stated, “This is an amazing move not only to globalise Amapiano but to teach the world about its roots, just like the roots of Hip-Hop.”
With the world now able to dive deeper into the genre through the dedicated category, the future looks bright for Amapiano’s continued global rise. Discover the Amapiano category page here.
