Kenyan hip-hop artists Asum Garvey and Dr. Reign launched their joint album, Awesum Reign: The Stance, at a packed event at the Mageuzi Hub in Nairobi. The reveal party, in partnership with Martell Blue Swift, Baze Radio, and Cosmo Lounge, brought together artists, media personalities, and activists to celebrate the release.

Asum Garvey expressed pride in the album, saying, “There has been amazing energy around it.” The duo shared insights into their creative process during a podcast-style session moderated by Baze Radio’s Calvin Wanguku, with live performances of selected tracks.

Notable attendees included Boutross, Juliani, Fena Gitu, Groovy Jo, and activist Boniface Mwangi, who highlighted the album’s themes of governance and political consciousness. Dr. Reign also announced his new role as a brand influencer for Martell Blue Swift.

Awesum Reign: The Stance addresses issues such as corruption and political impunity, making a bold statement about the current state of Kenya. “This was us challenging the status quo as conscious artists,” said Garvey.
