TRACE continues its mission of empowering African talent and delivering outstanding quality local content with a fresh lineup of shows on TRACE Urban and TRACE Africa channels. These changes, designed to keep pace with evolving urban culture and viewer preferences, will introduce new formats while retaining popular favourites.
TRACE Urban: “More Hits. More Fresh. More You”
TRACE Urban, South Africa’s #1 channel for Hip Hop, R&B, and Rhythmic music, has streamlined its offering into a playlist-driven experience with more hits and fresh content at set time slots. Viewers can still enjoy top-rated shows such as K-Pop Hits, Gqom 10 Hits, SA Hip Hop 10, and Piano to the World.
Focusing on originality and emerging talent, TRACE Urban is bringing in new content, including House of Trace, Trace Sessions for live performances, and the flagship show New Music Friday. Dedicated to debuting the latest tracks, New Music Friday is a fan-favorite and promises dynamic energy. It will premiere on 11th October 2024, airing every Friday at 12h00, 17h00, and 20h00, with a repeat on Saturdays at 12h00.
Additionally, Vik The Groove will debut as the channel’s only presenter-led show, offering a unique, immersive music experience.
Fresh New Shows
TRACE Urban is also expanding its content with new shows that spotlight emerging genres:
Drill Hits: This new addition will shine a spotlight on the drill music genre, which originated in Chicago and gained popularity in the UK. Known for its raw, gritty lyrics, Drill Hits will showcase the best tracks and up-and-coming artists every Tuesday from 15h00 to 15h30.
Shorts: Tailored for the fast-paced media landscape, Shorts delivers bite-sized, engaging entertainment that seamlessly connects TV and social media.
K-Pop Hits: With the growing global appeal of K-Pop, this audience-favorite show will continue to air on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 15h00 to 15h30.
TRACE Africa: “Kuningi – More of What You Love”
Proudly South African, TRACE Africa will maintain its thematic focus while increasing local music and cultural content. Known for reflecting South Africa’s rhythmic lifestyle, the channel is set to spotlight more emerging local talent and showcase undiscovered artists through a dedicated hour.
Viewers can continue to enjoy original shows like Hit 30 and Hits & Lyrics, while new playlists such as Afro Vibes, Amapiano Plz, All Hip Hop, and Fresh and New bring more variety. The goal is to push boundaries with fresh local lifestyle content, allowing viewers to connect with the sounds and culture they love.
