Pearl Thusi to take center stage in the upcoming Comedy Central Roast of Pearl Thusi, served by Smirnoff Spicy Tamarind. This unfiltered, no-holds-barred roast will take place at Gold Reef City’s Lyric Theatre on Thursday, November 21, 2024, and will air on Comedy Central (DStv Channel 122) on December 8 at 21:00.

If past roasts of local icons like Kenny Kunene, Somizi Mhlongo, AKA, and Khanyi Mbau are anything to go by, the event promises brutal humor, witty barbs, and fearless roasters eager to grill Pearl on everything from her high-profile career to her bold personal style. Known for her fierce independence and candid opinions, Pearl “Queen Sono” Thusi has never been one to shy away from the spotlight—or controversy.

A Life in the Limelight

Durban-born Pearl Thusi has made a name for herself as one of South Africa’s most versatile stars. From her early days as a beauty queen to becoming an actress, media personality, DJ, and entrepreneur, Pearl has built a career that spans both local and international screens, including standout roles in Quantico, Catching Feelings, Kalushi, and Fistful of Vengeance. She’s equally known for her bold fashion choices and unapologetic attitude, a combination that has both inspired and divided fans. Pearl’s commitment to being herself, no matter the critics, has solidified her place in pop culture. Last year, she made headlines once again by sporting a sheer, nipple-baring outfit that left little to the imagination, defending her right to embrace her body on her own terms. As she faces the roasters, it’s a safe bet that no part of her vibrant career and headline-grabbing moments will be off-limits.

The Roast That Will Set Screens Alight

Commenting on her upcoming roast, Pearl shared her excitement and confidence, “After many years in the entertainment industry, I’m no stranger to pressure – and I’m fully prepared to handle whatever the Roasters throw at me. So believe me when I say I’ll bring my A-game for this one! Returning to the Roast, this time as the roastee, I’m looking forward to having fun in the hot seat and giving as good as I get. If the Roasters think they will get me to squirm, they have another thing coming!”

The night’s humor will be fueled by Smirnoff Spicy Tamarind, a blend as fiery as the comments that will be flying across the stage. Vuyisile Dlepu, Smirnoff Senior Brand Manager, described the partnership as a perfect match, “Pearl is the perfect combination of beauty and brains. She’s smart, sassy, and great at thinking on her feet. We are sure she is not going to be anyone’s pushover – and when it gets spicy on stage, it’s going to make for brilliant TV viewing!”
