As one of Africa’s most prominent rap voices, Nasty C is stepping into a new chapter with the release of his highly anticipated fifth studio album FREE—his first independent release under his own label, Tall Racks. In a bold and flavour-packed collaboration, the rapper joins forces with global snack giant Doritos for an exclusive episode of In The Truck, the social series that fuses culture, culinary creativity, and authentic storytelling.
Filmed inside the iconic Doritos Loaded Truck, In The Truck brings some of South Africa’s most compelling cultural figures into one-of-a-kind conversations—paired with bold bites and spicy freestyles. In this latest episode, Nasty C not only previews the lead single from his album, Switch, but also reflects on his evolution as an artist and what it truly means to feel “free.”
“My new album FREE is basically inspired by wanting to be free, but also just feeling very free,” Nasty C shares in the episode. “Free from a lot of things that have had a hold on me, whether it’s mentally or literally. Fans can expect honest music, some vulnerability, introspection—but also some vibes, some club bangers, something you can dance to.”
“Switch” stands out as a heartfelt anthem, one that touches on the family he was born into and the family he’s built. Alongside the track teaser, Nasty C drops a passionate freestyle featuring empowering lyrics from FREE—urging listeners to uplift and celebrate each other’s wins.

Set to drop on Friday, 12 September, FREE marks a defining moment in Nasty C’s career. It’s more than just an album—it’s a declaration of independence and a sonic journey through growth, self-expression, and purpose. From his hometown of Durban to global stages, FREE encapsulates his evolution not just as an artist, but as a man reclaiming his voice, his truth, and his time.

Launched last year, Doritos’ In The Truck series has featured a range of influential South African voices—from podcasters and models to musicians and content creators—as they whip up Doritos-loaded meals while sharing stories that inspire boldness. The series initially kicked off with the launch of Doritos’ Grilled BBQ Flavour and continues to celebrate fearlessness and individuality.
“Doritos is all about encouraging consumers to be bold enough to be themselves,” says Jaydee Newman, Brand Manager for Doritos at PepsiCo South Africa. “With In The Truck, we’re merging culinary culture with authentic stories in partnership with personalities who embody bold self-expression. We’re thrilled to collaborate with Nasty C—one of the boldest voices in the game—and look forward to celebrating more journeys like his.”
