Following the momentum of July’s impactful fashion edition, Power Play Energy Drink and The Sobering Podcast are set to deliver another powerful cultural moment with the next instalment in the Play Sobering Mixer series — this time focusing on content creation. The Play Sobering Content Mixer is scheduled for 25 September 2025 at Langhams in Fourways, Johannesburg.
From Fashion to Content: Evolving the Conversation
The July edition, The Play Sobering Fashion Mixer, featured a dynamic panel including Nomuzi Mabena (Creative Director at Era by DJ Zinhle), Anya Potgieter (Lecturer at STADIO), Ntsika Tyatya (Culture & Communications Lead at MAXHOSA Africa), and Thatiso Dube (Founder & Head Designer at GALXBOY). Together, they shared compelling insights into the future of South African fashion, collaboration, and creative entrepreneurship — making it one of the season’s standout industry events.
Building on that success, the upcoming Content Mixer will shift the spotlight to one of today’s most influential arenas: content. The event will bring together storytellers, digital innovators, producers, and strategists to explore how content is created, distributed, and monetised — across platforms from traditional television and film to social media, podcasts, and beyond.
A Growing Platform for Creative Exchange
“Power Play is proud to continue with the Play Sobering Mixer series, creating spaces where creativity and culture intersect,” says Sindi Thwala, Marketing Manager at Power Play. “Each Mixer builds on the last, and we’re excited to see the Content Mixer spark new conversations that allow the industry to learn from each other and find ways to grow together.”
For Kabelo “Fratpacker” Moremi, co-founder of The Sobering Podcast, this edition feels especially close to home.
“As a podcaster and a creative, I know how important content has become in shaping how we see ourselves, tell our stories, and connect with audiences. This Mixer is going to open up the conversation around content in all its forms, and I’m really looking forward to hearing different perspectives from across the industry.”
