Mnisi’s creative process began with memory rather than mood boards. “The first reference I pulled was definitely the feeling of nostalgia,” he explains. “I thought of my grandmother walking in Sophiatown… pleats, blouses, silks—a chilled, elevated look with a lot of print.” The result is a capsule that feels familiar yet bold, modern yet deeply rooted.

On 30 October, Foschini and RICH MNISI will host a charity auction in partnership with Strauss & Co, transforming fashion into a force for change. Celebrating Foschini’s 100-year legacy and RICH MNISI’s 10-year milestone, the collaboration bridges heritage and reinvention through a dual collection, the Foschini x RICH MNISI retail capsule and the RICH MNISI x Foschini 15-piece auction series.
While the retail line reimagines Foschini’s classics with Mnisi’s prints, the auction features one-of-one pieces designed entirely by the designer, with all proceeds supporting Move Africa’s mission to combat period poverty. Rooted in nostalgia and propelled by “becoming,” the collection draws inspiration from the 1970s, an era of rebellion and self-expression, and embodies a communal spirit of excellence. Beyond couture, the auction also features contributions from other TFG brands, from custom jewellery to tailored suits, each reflecting a shared purpose: turning style and legacy into social impact.
