A Cape Town Legacy in Motion

Celebrated South African hip-hop artist and cultural icon YoungstaCPT has teamed up with Reebok for a collaboration that’s already shaking the culture. The result, the Oh-Two-1, a bold, limited-edition sneaker named after Cape Town’s iconic area code, 021. But this isn’t just another sneaker drop. The Oh-Two-1 is a mixtape in motion — a wearable story stitched together with meaning, heritage, and hustle.

Designed With Purpose

Personally designed by YoungstaCPT and illustrated by fellow Capetonian Ross Solomon, every element of the Oh-Two-1 captures fragments of life in the Cape Flats. From spray cans and Metrorail trains to washing lines, cassette tapes,and taxi rides, it’s a love letter to Cape Town’s rhythm, resilience, and rebellion. The base silhouette, Reebok’s Pump OmniZone, reimagines a ’90s icon with local flair. A tough outsole nods to the city’s pavements and highways, while the yellow-orange gradient echoes Cape Town’s unforgettable sunrise and sunset skyline moments.

More Than Fashion — It’s Legacy

For YoungstaCPT, this partnership runs deeper than style:

“Reebok has always been that iconic sneaker every kid in the hood wanted. I’ve been wearing Reebok since I was knee-high,” says YoungstaCPT. “This collab is about building a legacy for my people, claiming our stake and living to our true potential. Nobody ever said it was going to be easy. This is what perseverance looks like — those ten thousand hours we put in.”

This collaboration forms part of Reebok South Africa’s Pure Mzansi Gold series, a campaign celebrating South Africa’s cultural trailblazers. Following in the footsteps of the late AKA, YoungstaCPT becomes the third South African to release a signature Reebok sneaker, marking the most valuable local collab in the brand’s history.

The Drop: Exclusive, Signed, and Story-Driven

Only 500 pairs of the Oh-Two-1 exist. Each is signed, numbered, and packaged with a custom sleeve and sticker sheet inspired by YoungstaCPT’s classic mixtapes. Reebok is also launching a two-part mini doc to accompany the drop, a raw, mixtape-style visual experience that captures the creative process, street energy, and the people who helped bring it all together.

The Oh-Two-1 officially drops Friday, 31 October for R3,999 at Reebok Canal Walk and select retailers including Sportscene, Studio88, Shelflife, Sneaker District, and Y?Gen, as well as Reebok.co.za.
