Rising Afro-Soul Talent Drops New Project
Rising Afro-soul artist Ossi Grace has released her 11-track debut EP, In A Hopeless Place, on October 31, 2025. The project includes previous singles like “Only You,” “Ocean,” and her debut, “Reason.” Ossi states that while her home of “Nigeria, to many of us, often feels like a hopeless place,” the EP focuses on love as her “good something”—a “rose sprouting out of a pile of concrete rubble.” The body of work showcases her “brilliance as a songwriter,” delivering “heartfelt narratives” with vocals likened to Tracy Chapman.
MAKWA RELEASES NEW SINGLE
Producer Makwa Collaborates With Kwesta On Mzonkonko
Multi-talented producer Makwa has released his new single, “Umguzumbane We Summer,” featuring rapper Kwesta and rising star Ovii Mathandos. Makwa, known is impact on South African hip-hop, introduces a new sound he calls Mzonkonko, a fusion bridging House Music, Hip-Hop, and Kwaito. The single is a statement that the genre continues to thrive, with Makwa quoting: “Bathi iHip Hop I file, Banamanga, Banomona, we never die, we multiply.”

Mambisa Golden Boy On The List Of Anticipated Hip Hop Drops This Year
South African hip-hop artist Touchline will release his seventh project, Mambisa Golden Boy, on November 21, 2025. The album follows a year of milestones, including achieving two Gold-certified projects and a Hype Magazine cover. The release promises a “fresh perspective” featuring “raw, introspective storytelling, razor-sharp lyricism, and unforgettable melodic hooks.” The project celebrates the artist’s growth, achievement, and the “relentless pursuit of authenticity,” reflecting on his journey from the boy who dreamed beyond Tembisa.
YUMBS NEW EP RELEASE
Producer Releases Amapiano Project Titled Imbewu
Celebrated producer and DJ Yumbs released his highly anticipated EP, Imbewu, which means “The Seed” in isiZulu. The project reflects the growth and “evolution of sound” in “private school” Amapiano, showcasing “maturity and emotional depth.” Yumbs describes the EP as a metaphor for his career, nurtured with “intention, patience, and consistency.” It features collaborations with Kailey Botman, Zwayetoven, Nkosazana Daughter, and Stixx. The track “You Try” featuring Simmy has already become a viral phenomenon on TikTok. Yumbs also released a short documentary reflecting on his roots in Kagiso.

IFAS LAUNCHES CREATION AFRICA 2026

Mentorship Incubation Training Funding Supports Creative Entrepreneurs
The French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs, the Embassy of France, and the French Institute of South Africa (IFAS) announce the return of Création Africa. This program aims to “boost and support cultural entrepreneurship” in South Africa, Lesotho, and Malawi. It offers a holistic approach combining mentorship, funding, and networking. Fifty selected entrepreneurs will participate in a 7-week intensive mentorship starting February 2026. The top 15 will receive a 6-month incubation phase and financial support to scale their businesses. Applications close on December 7, 2025.

New Faces Bring New Fire To Telenovela
BET Africa’s hit telenovela, “Black Gold,” is intensifying its final chapters with a significant cast shake-up, promising an “explosive final” climax. New actors joining the show include Enhle Mlotshwa as Azania Lwandle, Tina Jaxa as Nomvelo Hlela , Amogelang Telekelo as Mimi, and Nicole Bessick as Sasha Willems. These additions are “set to disrupt alliances” and heighten the drama as the season races toward its conclusion. Starting Monday, 22 December 2025, viewers can expect double bills every night. The show is currently nominated for several National Film & TV Awards South Africa 2025.

Media personality and business owner Kim Jayde premiered the third, “first-ever international season” of her YouTube show, Kickin’ It With Kim Jayde, on November 6, 2025. Evolving beyond sneaker culture, the show was filmed across five major cities and will profile notable guests to share their “inspiring life stories and lessons” focused on success in sports, fashion, and entertainment. Jayde stated the show removes the “gatekeeping of information.” 100% independently financed by Jayde, the season features a star-studded global and local cast, including Karl Kani and Edwina Findley.

Chart-Topping Rapper Drops Visual For Rising Single
Hip-hop artist Gunna released a “sultry and visually captivating” music video for his rising single, “wgft” featuring Burna Boy. Directed by Spike Jordan and shot in London, the visual, which intercuts snakes with pole acrobatics and a high-fashion aesthetic, supports the track from Gunna’s chart-topping LP, The Last Wun. “wgft” has spent 12 consecutive weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 and is Gunna’s 19th career Top 10 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs Chart. Gunna also launches his Wun World Tour this month, headlining Madison Square Garden and performing at South Africa’s Milk & Cookies Festival in January.

The 17th annual Feather Awards took place at Melrose Arch, calling on attendees to “pause, look and listen to your heart.” Hosted by Khaya Dladla and Andiswa P. Music Science And Imagination Explores Cosmic Enigmas
Universe on Stage presents its “most ambitious production yet,” The Black Hole Symphony, for three performances only from November 27–29, 2025, at the Wits Linder Auditorium in Johannesburg. The performance will feature composer Yasheen Modi on piano, narration by physicist Dr. Luca Pontiggia, visuals by Darius Botha, and the Johannesburg Philharmonic Orchestra (JPO), conducted by Daniel Boico. The six-movement orchestral storyexplores black holes through an “unforgettable fusion of art, science, and sound.” The JPO’s Dr Samson Diamond called it an “extraordinary run of shows.”

Global Voices Demand Economic Justice For Humanity
We the 99’s People’s Summit for Global Economic Justice is set for November 20–22 at Constitution Hill, Johannesburg, days before the G20 Leaders’ Summit. The event aims to “challenge and reframe dominant narratives about the global economy” by asserting that economic decisions must serve “humanity, not markets.” Structured as a counterpoint to the G20, the summit will feature movement-building, civil society dialogue, and music to amplify calls for debt justice, fair taxation, and equitable climate finance. The lineup includes artists like ‘iPhupho L’ka Biko’, ‘Buhlebendalo’, ‘Lebo Mashile’, ‘Maglera Doe Boy’, ‘DBN Gogo’, ‘DJ Kenzhero’ and ‘The Brother Moves On.
