A New Platform for the 2026 Adiaha Award Winner
The Ladima Foundation has formalised a partnership with Afrikamera to elevate the 2026 Adiaha Award for Best Documentary by an African woman filmmaker. The collaboration ensures that the winning film will be screened at Afrikamera’s 2026 edition in Berlin, alongside the award’s established $2,000 prize.
Now in its eighth edition, the Adiaha Award has built a track record of amplifying African women’s documentary voices, with previous winners including Miki Redelinghuys (Pearlie Joubert: Mother City, 2025), Zippy Kimundu and Meena Nanji (Our Land, Our Freedom, 2024), and Cyrielle Raingou (Le Spectre de Boko Haram, 2023).
Entries are open exclusively to African women living and/or working on the continent, for documentaries produced in Africa. Submissions are accepted via FilmFreeway from December 10, 2025, until March 10, 2026 (midnight CAT).
