Rosey Gold Brings Global Sounds To Vault On Bree This First Thursday
The conversation between local South African talent and the global diaspora is set to take center stage on Bree Street this week. Vault On Bree, the Cape Town cultural hub known for its focus on creative connection, has announced its lineup for the February edition of First Thursdays, headlining European-based South African DJ Rosey Gold.
The event, activated in collaboration with denim brand G-Star, continues the venue’s recent trend of hosting “sound-led” sessions that prioritize intentional listening over standard club dynamics. It follows a similar activation in January, where electronic artist Désirée hosted a prelude to her MMiNO project, focusing specifically on vinyl culture.
The Lineup: A Prelude to Kunye
For the February iteration, the spotlight shifts to Rosey Gold. Known for blending electronic and Afro house with broader diasporic sounds, Gold’s set at Vault On Bree is positioned as an intimate “unofficial prelude” to her scheduled performance at Kunye later in the weekend.
Gold’s trajectory has been steep over the last year. In 2025, she secured slots at major international venues including Hï Ibiza and Chinois Ibiza, while also selling out shows in London. She was recently flagged as a “One to Watch” by digital music store Beatport. Support on the night comes from local selector Mandy Jade.
Focusing on Emerging Talent
Beyond the headline act, the event underscores a continued focus on grassroots development within the city’s nightlife economy. The session will incorporate the “Open Decks” project, an in-house initiative at Vault On Bree designed to provide stage time for unestablished DJs to experiment with new sounds in a live setting.
By combining international exports like Gold with emerging local talent, the venue aims to maintain its position as a conduit for South Africa’s evolving creative landscape.
