New York City’s Chinatown Sound has just released its first episode, featuring the sensational Afrobeats star Camidoh. The Ghanaian singer-songwriter, known for his hit song “Sugarcane,” captivated the audience with an acoustic version of his recent track “NLF (Breakfast)”—a mesmerizing tune about a breakup that led him to seek therapy. On the bustling streets of Lower Manhattan, Camidoh delivered a powerful acapella performance of his new track. He sported a velour sweatsuit, brown shades, and a pair of construction boots, embodying a unique blend of style and raw emotion.

The official lyric video for “NLF (Breakfast)” has already made waves, crossing 1 million views on YouTube just three weeks after its release. This milestone underscores the song’s resonance with listeners and highlights Camidoh’s rising popularity. Richardine Bartee, a New York City native journalist, celebrity publicist, and music supervisor, expressed her gratitude for the platform’s support in a post on her X account. Bartee, who organized the event during Camidoh’s press run in New York City, shared her excitement about the collaboration.

Before featuring Camidoh, Chinatown Sound primarily supported American rappers such as Melvoni (Epic Records), Giant Music’s new signee Esparo (labelmates Cash Cobain and Mike Will Made-It), and Roc Nation’s HDBeenDope and Reuben Vincent—who is of Liberian descent. This marks the first time the esteemed video platform has showcased an Afrobeats artist.

Stay tuned for more exciting content from Chinatown Sound as they continue to spotlight Afrobeats artists in the future.
