In a vibrant celebration of South African women and their contributions to three decades of democracy, Constitution Hill, in collaboration with Love Infinity Media and Sizoya Sibuye Foundation, proudly presents She Fest. This nine-day commemorative event, held from August 1-9, 2024, at the historic Women’s Jail at Constitution Hill, marks Women’s Month with an inspiring series of activities.

She Fest is more than a festival; it’s a homage to the achievements of South African women. Featuring a gala awards dinner, visual arts exhibitions, film screenings, creative industry workshops, and intergenerational dialogues, the event aims to reflect on the progress made in gender equality, celebrate influential women leaders, and inspire future generations.

The festivities will commence with the “Reflecting on Progress: South African Women in 30 Years of Democracy Gala Dinner.” This prestigious event will honor 30 women who have made significant impacts on South Africa’s transformation since 1994. Their names will be inscribed at the Women’s Jail memorial, alongside those of ex-prisoners, on the glass monument that commemorates women who suffered incarceration during apartheid.

Reuben Phasha, Heritage: Education and Public Programs Manager at Constitution Hill, underscores the event’s goals: celebrating achievements, reflecting on women’s rights progress, inspiring young women, and fostering networking among diverse attendees. She Fest founder, Noluthando Rotwane (DJ Teedo Love), highlights the festival’s role in empowering women, embracing diversity, and providing a platform for addressing critical issues in the film and music industry.
