Located in the heart of Sandton, Johannesburg—Africa’s richest square mile—Booth Nightclub has become synonymous with luxury and exclusivity. Founded by seasoned nightclub operator Tajudeen Abolore Jaji and his business partner DJ Mthi HD, the club has redefined South Africa’s nightlife since opening its doors eight years ago. Recently, Booth celebrated this milestone with a grand three-day event from July 26 to 28, 2028, attracting A-listers and offering an unforgettable experience that reaffirmed its status as a premier nightlife destination.
Name three of your most memorable times at the club
[ABOLORE JAJI AND DJ MTHI HD]: Our first anniversary was one of my greatest moments because that was the beginning of something great. We saw the success and growth. Another memorable moment was when we hosted Burna Boy at the venue, the reception was amazing, and he was a great person to host. Overall, Tuesday nights at Booth are always memorable because there isn’t any Tuesday like a Tuesday at Booth. We paved the way for parting on a Tuesday and that’s the only memory anyone can have on a Tuesday.
Who have you hosted, internationally and locally?
[ABOLORE JAJI AND DJ MTHI HD]: Yes, we have hosted both local and international stars. We have had the honour of hosting the likes of Burna Boy, Wizkid, Davido, Kizz Daniel, 2Face, Flavour, American rapper – Bas, Jamaican Artist Beanie Man, and many more.
How did the two of you meet and get into business together?
[ABOLORE JAJI AND DJ MTHI HD]: We have been working in our individual businesses, and I think in a nutshell the industry called the both of us together. We have a lot in common, our business values align, and it only made sense to join two hard-working and powerful personalities together for one vision.
What are the challenges of running a nightclub business?
[ABOLORE JAJI AND DJ MTHI HD]: >>>The nightlife market is very competitive; keeping the club relevant and attractive to customers requires constant innovation in terms of events, promotions, and overall atmosphere. Economic fluctuations have been one of the biggest challenges, but we try by all means to understand the buying power and we then align the business with the factors that influence surpass income.
What is the misconception about the clubbing industry?
[ABOLORE JAJI AND DJ MTHI HD]: People love to have a great time, they love good music, socialising, and coming together. The misconception about the nightlife and clubbing business is that there is a lot of drug-dealing and money laundering. That is not always the case, especially not for us. The nightlife and clubbing business is an integral part of show business, this is where artists get booked and careers are built and we respect the craft and the value of the business.
What have you achieved thus far that you had planned?
[ABOLORE JAJI AND DJ MTHI HD]: Starting off as one entity which then gave birth to other outlets in spaces of Liquour and became a key account group. We plan to grow even more, create employment, and globalise the brand going into other parts of Africa.
