In celebration of Heritage Month this September, Apple Music proudly launches its Amaqhawe initiative, honouring South Africa’s rich musical heritage and its legendary artists. The term “Amaqhawe,” meaning “hero” in Xhosa and “legend” in Zulu, reflects the initiative’s focus on spotlighting the iconic figures whose sounds have profoundly shaped South Africa’s cultural landscape. This special tribute coincides with Heritage Day on September 24, emphasizing the profound impact of these musical greats on the Rainbow Nation.

The Amaqhawe initiative features a dedicated space on Apple Music, showcasing six newly curated guest playlists from some of South Africa’s most revered artists.
