The Capitec handmadeAFRICA market is back with its second edition, bringing a vibrant showcase of African creativity and fine dining to the Oxford Parks Precinct in Rosebank, Johannesburg. Following its successful debut at Nirox Sculpture Park, this highly anticipated event will transform Oxford Parks into a bustling hub of design, culture, and culinary delight on Friday, November 29, and Saturday, November 30.

This unique travelling boutique features over 50 of the continent’s most talented designers, offering a curated selection of handmade treasures. From fashion and accessories to home décor and artisanal goods, each piece reflects Africa’s rich heritage and contemporary flair. With designers hailing from Accra, Nairobi, Cape Town, Gaborone, Dakar, and beyond, this is an ideal opportunity to discover exclusive, ethically crafted gifts for the festive season while supporting local artisans and their work.

Culinary Delights from Top Restaurants

Foodies are in for a treat as the precinct’s renowned restaurants bring their culinary artistry to the streets. Participating eateries include:

  • BGR: Known for classic American-style burgers with beef, chicken, and veggie options.
  • Ethos: A Mediterranean haven pairing delectable cuisine with signature cocktails.
  • Pot Luck Club: Vibrant, flavour-packed small plates inspired by global tastes.
  • 011 Rosebank Gin Eatery: Offering an extensive gin selection paired with grill specials.
  • Le Fleur Café: French-inspired fast-casual dining with artisanal pastries and gourmet coffee.
These establishments and more will serve “street food” interpretations of their menus, allowing visitors to indulge in fine-dining flavours in a casual setting.

The market isn’t just about shopping and eating; it promises a festive atmosphere with live DJs, choir performances, and a free comedy show. Hands-on workshops will add a personal touch to the experience, including professional gift-wrapping, cocktail demonstrations, and personal styling consultations. For families, a dedicated kids’ programme will ensure children stay creatively engaged, giving parents the freedom to explore and socialise.

The festive market runs from 16:00 to 21:00 on Friday and 12:00 to 21:00 on Saturday. Entry is free, but access is controlled. To make your visit seamless, pre-purchase a R100 ticket voucher on Quicket, redeemable at any participating food or beverage vendor. Children under 12 enjoy free entry.
