On 26 December, Adekunle Gold became the first artist to headline a concert at Lagos’ newly renovated National Theatre, now known as the Wole Soyinka Centre. The performance marked a milestone for both the artist and the historic venue, which officially reopened in October 2025.
The concert was sold out and featured a full orchestra, underscoring the scale and significance of the event within the context of the theatre’s reopening. The show represented an early test of the venue’s renewed role as a space for large-scale cultural and musical events.
Following the performance, Adekunle Gold received a plaque recognising him as the first artist to sell out the renovated National Theatre. The acknowledgement formally recorded the concert as a historic first for the Wole Soyinka Centre in its new chapter.
