MMiNO Returns to Cape Town With DESIREE, Queezy and Omoloko Leading a Phone-Free Dance Floor

MMiNO, the club series founded by South African selector DESIREE, returns to Cape Town on 8 January 2026 with a night at Hexagon. The event brings together DESIREE, Cape Town performer Queezy, and Brazilian curator Omoloko.

Founded in Johannesburg in 2023, MMiNO has grown from a local underground party into a travelling platform with editions in London, Ibiza and Kenya. Despite its international reach, South Africa remains the centre of the project, with Johannesburg hosting the first part of the 2025/26 homecoming in November and Cape Town closing it in January.

The Cape Town edition continues MMiNO’s defining rule: a no-phones, no-flash dance floor designed to prioritise presence and collective energy. Doors open at 9 PM, with the event running late into the night.

Why This Matters

MMiNO’s return shows the continued strength of South Africa’s underground electronic culture at a time when global club formats are increasingly standardised. By enforcing a phone-free policy, the series pushes back against performative nightlife and recentres the dance floor as a shared, in-the-moment experience.

For Cape Town specifically, the event reflects how local queer, experimental and Afro-diasporic sounds are connecting with global movements without losing their identity. The pairing of Queezy and Omoloko places the city’s drag-informed club heritage in direct conversation with Brazil’s genre-fluid underground, positioning Cape Town as an active node in a wider Global South exchange.

MMiNO Implements Cross-Subsidized Pricing to Secure Local Access During Cape Town Peak Season

09 December 2025: For the second consecutive year, MMiNO has introduced a tiered ticketing model where international admission fees subsidize lower rates for South African residents. This initiative aims to maintain accessibility during Cape Town’s peak tourist season, reinforcing the brand’s philosophy that the event is “built for locals first.” Organizers emphasized the necessity of this structure, noting that “a diverse dance floor is not just what we want, it’s what we need.”
