On March 19, 2026, Billboard Africa and Hennessy hosted a private “Editor’s Table” dinner at Les Créatifs Restaurant in Bryanston, Johannesburg. This invitation-only event brought together South Africa’s most influential music and culture leaders to foster meaningful collaboration within the continent’s rapidly evolving creative ecosystem.
Celebrating African Music and Cultural Influence
Curated by Editor-in-Chief Nkosiyati Khumalo, the gathering featured a diverse mix of industry titans, including festival founders, talent managers, and hitmakers like Shekhinah and Boity. The series aims to spotlight Africa’s music landscape while strengthening the professional bonds that drive the industry toward a global stage.
“No matter where on the continent I’ve travelled, and no matter where I’ve been around the world, I’ve found that Africans are united in our drive to create community, everywhere we are, and that often starts with a warm dinner gathering,” says Billboard Africa Editor-in-Chief, Nkosiyati Khumalo.
An Immersive Experience Rooted in Culture and Craft
The evening featured a bespoke menu by Chef Wandile Mabaso, uniquely pairing Hennessy XO with traditional Umqombothi to honor South African heritage. This fusion of luxury and local tradition provided a refined backdrop for discussions on the necessity of better business systems and cross-border partnerships. “We are not short of superstars and talent, but we need more professionals who bring business insights and systems,” noted industry veteran Khuli Chana.
A Growing Pan-African Cultural Platform
The event also highlighted the success of the Hennessy Cypher 2024, which sparked the collaboration between Nigerian artist Ladipoe and South African rapper Maglera Doe Boy. Following its debut in Accra, The Editor’s Table will continue its tour across Africa throughout 2026, building a unified network of creative excellence.
“Through this series, we are proud to celebrate the creators and industry leaders shaping the future of African music,” says Aimee Kellen, Regional Marketing Director, Moët Hennessy Middle East Africa.
