On 2 October, G-STAR South Africa officially launched its new Anatomic Denim campaign in a bold and immersive First Thursdays takeover in Cape Town, spotlighting the fusion of fashion, movement, and African creativity.

The campaign launch brought together a dynamic lineup of cultural leaders and creatives including Filah_Lah_Lah Ranamane, Lee-ché Janecke, Trevor Stuurman, Thebe Magugu, GRADE Africa founder Zaid Osman, Musa Keys, Metro FM’s Loot Love, Jamie-Lee Domburg, and GQ SA’s 2025 Cultural Influencer, Nduduzo Makhathini.
A Multi-Sensory Experience
Throughout the evening, guests were treated to an expressive display of what Anatomic Denim represents, denim designed not just for the body, but with the body in mind. The space came alive through curated cocktails in bold red hues, punchy culinary bites, and a performance that merged ballet and contemporary dance, capturing the campaign’s core philosophy through movement. Indigo-dressed guests became part of the visual narrative, embodying the campaign’s aesthetic ethos.
A Global Soundtrack Meets Local Vibe
Major League DJz headlined the high-energy music lineup, closing the night alongside DJ Loyd & Sir Vincent, Mateki2Shoes, and Wanda LePhoto. The musical blend of global rhythms and local energy set the tone for an evening that was as much about culture as it was about fashion.
Culture Meets Campaign
G-STAR’s local partner, Manor Africa (a platform archiving contemporary African creativity) amplified the campaign’s cultural reach. Their involvement rooted the launch in community and storytelling, positioning denim not just as apparel, but as a medium of artistic expression.
The Campaign Behind the Movement
At the centre of Anatomic Denim is a visually arresting campaign by cult director and photographer Jordan Hemingway, known for work with Gucci, Prada, and Maison Margiela. The campaign strips away traditional props, no bikes, no rings, no poles, leaving only the raw power of athletes in motion. It’s denim engineered for freedom, designed to move with the body, not against it.
“Anatomic Denim is the next step in G-STAR’s denim evolution, designing not just for the body, but with it in mind. Merging our 3D legacy with art, science, and craftsmanship, we bring denim to life in a raw, expressive, unmistakably G-STAR way.”
— Gwenda van Vliet, Chief Brand Officer, G-STAR
The Cape Town event affirmed G-STAR SA’s dedication to pushing the boundaries of denim innovation, while honouring the pulse of African creativity and community.
