Scorpion Kings Announce The 2026 Edition Of Their Annual Event Titled”A Family Affair”

24 April 2026

What started as a long-awaited debut is now one of the most significant live music movements on the African continent. DJ Maphorisa and Kabza De Small, the duo behind the Amapiano revolution, have officially announced Scorpion Kings Live: A Family Affair, set to take over FNB Stadium in Johannesburg on 19 September 2026. This is the next chapter of a story four years in the making.

Where It Began

When Scorpion Kings Live was first happened in 2022, after being delayed from their 2020 announcement, it was billed as the “first-of-its-kind” curated live experience from the genre’s most prolific producer duo. That debut took place on 22 July 2022 at the Sun Arena, Times Square in Pretoria, a three-hour show that signalled to South Africa, and the world, that Amapiano had arrived as a live force. It was a proof of concept. And it worked.

The 2025 Moment That Changed Everything

Three years later, the Scorpion Kings returned, this time with a bigger vision and a bigger stage. Scorpion Kings Live with Friends took over Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria on 29 August 2025, uniting over 50,000 fans in what was billed as a full-circle celebration of Amapiano’s journey from township roots to the world’s biggest stages.

The night was historic on multiple levels. In the early hours of the event, Kabza De Small and DJ Maphorisa surprised fans with the release of a joint album titled “Kings Will Rise”, setting the tone for the sound the crowd was about to witness live. By the time the lights came up, it was clear: the Scorpion Kings weren’t just headlining a concert. They were headlining a cultural moment. As Kabza De Small said ahead of the show “This is more than just a show. It’s a celebration of where we come from, and a declaration of where we are going. Amapiano changed all of our lives. Now we take it higher.”

2026: A Family Affair at The Calabash

Now, following that watershed moment at Loftus, the Kings are going even bigger. Scorpion Kings Live: A Family Affair heads to FNB Stadium, one of Africa’s most iconic sporting venues, affectionately known as The Calabash, for what is set to become the largest Amapiano concert in the world, with an anticipated audience of over 70,000 fans. The theme this year is intentional: A Family Affair. It speaks to the community at the heart of Amapiano; the artists, collaborators, and the fans who have carried the sound across borders and into new spaces. More than a headline, it’s a philosophy.

Reflecting on last year’s milestone and the road ahead, DJ Maphorisa shared: “Loftus was a moment we’ll never forget, the energy, the love, the unity. It showed us just how far Amapiano has come. But for us, that was only the beginning. FNB Stadium is about taking that feeling and amplifying it for the world to see.” Kabza De Small echoed the sentiment: “Every Scorpion Kings Live show is about growth, not just for us, but for the culture. ‘A Family Affair’ is exactly what this is. It’s about bringing everyone together again, bigger than ever, and creating something unforgettable.”

From Sun Arena to The Calabash

The trajectory is extraordinary. In four years, Scorpion Kings Live has grown from a 3-hour indoor debut to a stadium series that is redefining the ceiling of live Amapiano on a global scale. Each edition has built on the last, in scale, in production, and in cultural weight. Amapiano has long transcended borders, dominating charts, festivals, and dancefloors across Africa, Europe, Asia, and the Americas. But at its core, it remains rooted in the pulse of South Africa and Scorpion Kings Live continues to be the most powerful live expression of that truth.

Fans can expect world-class production, an electrifying lineup, and an immersive experience that reflects the scale, influence, and reach of Amapiano today. Full lineup and ticketing details are still to be announced. Further announcements including this year’s lineup and ticketing will be revealed.
