Tropika has launched a new limited-edition Ginger Beer flavour, marking a shift from its traditional fruity drinks. The flavour was chosen for its strong cultural connection to South African taste preferences, evoking warmth and comfort during winter months.
The partnership features renowned artist Dr Esther Mahlangu, 91, whose bold Ndebele geometric patterns adorn the packaging. Her signature designs transform each bottle into a celebration of South African heritage and creativity, making it both a beverage and a collector’s item.
Dr Mahlangu’s seven decades of artistic work have made her a cultural ambassador worldwide. By collaborating with her, Tropika has elevated the product beyond a simple flavour launch into a statement about staying rooted in South African culture while evolving as a brand.
Miantha Roux, Head of Beverages at Clover, explained: “Partnering with Dr Esther Mahlangu is a true honour. There’s warmth in this launch—not just in the flavour, but in what it represents. We hope this inspires South Africans to embrace the unexpected while celebrating their heritage.”
Tropika Ginger Beer is now available at retailers across South Africa.
