In a dazzling display of creativity and collaboration, SPACES AFRICA and Fresh AF set the stage for a groundbreaking event known as CR8TOR-CON. Held amidst the vibrant backdrop of Johannesburg’s USURPA, the digital African Fine Art NFT gallery, this invite-only affair brought together a select group of South Africa’s most innovative minds in the creative sphere.
The evening commenced with an intimate gathering, serving as both a reintroduction to SPACES AFRICA and a celebration of creativity in all its forms. Renowned Southern Africa-based creatives graced the event, including Aart Verrips, Buqaqawuli Thamani Nobakada, Lazi Matebula, and many more. These tastemakers took center stage in a curated panel discussion, delving into the themes of “Creativity & Collaboration” while showcasing their visual masterpieces within the gallery’s walls.
Guiding guests through this immersive experience was the dynamic duo of Shamiso Mosaka and Jay Kayembe, Executive Creative Director at Fresh AF and SPACES AFRICA. Together, they led engaging panel discussions featuring an eclectic lineup of creatives, including Dirty Native Chief, Cherné Africa, Espacio Dios, and others.
Speaking on the significance of the event, Jay Kayembe remarked, “As a collective, our team has dedicated the past seven years to the development of Spaces Africa, fostering a platform that empowers young African creatives to exhibit their talents. It is immensely gratifying to witness the substantial backing from our esteemed partners who align with our vision and objectives, particularly evident during the inaugural CR8TOR-CON last night.”
But CR8TOR-CON wasn’t just about stimulating dialogue; it was a feast for the senses. Throughout the night, guests were treated to electrifying performances by BASMNT, Fif Laaa, Wendy Ntinezo, and more, creating an atmosphere pulsating with energy and creativity.
Fresh AF Managing Director Ally Fathana expressed excitement about the event’s impact, stating, “I’m thrilled about the launch of CR8TOR-CON with Spaces Africa. Together, we’re dedicated to elevating creatives into serious businesses. By combining our event production and advertising agency expertise with their platform, we’re empowering creatives to monetise their craft and reshape our industry. Thanks to all involved, and here’s to a future of collaboration and innovation. Africa to the world!”
As CR8TOR-CON drew to a close, it left behind a trail of inspiration and anticipation for what lies ahead. With its bold celebration of creativity and unwavering commitment to collaboration, this groundbreaking event has undoubtedly set a new standard for Africa’s burgeoning creative industry.
