AmaGroove Opens 2026 Residency With Focus On Cross-Continental Music Collaboration
AmaGroove returns for its third edition from 22–29 March 2026 at Kromdraai Impact Hub, continuing its role as a platform for cross-continental music collaboration. The residency brings together artists, producers, and sonic innovators from South Africa and abroad, with a focus on experimentation, cultural exchange, and collective creation.
The 2026 edition is supported through a partnership between Autor (Denmark’s largest community of composers and songwriters), the Riky Rick Foundation, the Danish Embassy in South Africa, Kromdraai Impact Hub, and One Groove. Together, these partners aim to foster artistic excellence while creating sustainable pathways for musicians at different stages of their careers.
An open call for participation runs from 3 December 2025 to 6 January 2026, inviting both emerging and established creatives to apply. Applicants are expected to demonstrate originality, curiosity, and openness to collaboration across genres and cultures. Selected participants will take part in a week-long programme that includes collaborative studio sessions, workshops, wellness activities, cultural immersion, and live performances.
AmaGroove is curated by South African singer-songwriter Muneyi, whose work draws from Tshivenda culture and personal storytelling, alongside Mishy Kope, a 2025 AmaGroove alumnus and founder of ALTBLK Continua, and artist Msaki. The curatorial approach places emphasis on community, artistic freedom, and partnerships that extend beyond the residency itself.
Rooted in South Africa while engaging international networks, AmaGroove continues to honour the legacy of Riky Rick by positioning collaboration and creative exploration at the centre of its mission.
