Tyla is set to represent South Africa on one of football’s biggest stages after FIFA confirmed the global superstar as part of the FIFA World Cup 2026 opening ceremony celebrations. Tyla will perform during the Mexico City opening celebrations linked to the historic opening match featuring South Africa and Mexico, before later appearing again in Los Angeles alongside some of the world’s biggest music stars.
The opening match in Mexico City will take place at Estadio Azteca, the first stadium in history to host three FIFA World Cup opening matches. FIFA confirmed that the 2026 tournament will begin across three countries — Mexico, Canada and the United States — with interconnected ceremonies designed around themes of unity, culture and global connection.
Rema and Tyla Join Global Superstar Lineup in Los Angeles
In the United States, Rema and Tyla will join a major entertainment lineup in Los Angeles featuring Katy Perry, Future, Anitta and Lisa. FIFA described the ceremony as a defining cultural moment that will merge football, music and entertainment for a worldwide audience.
